Effects of Simulated High Altitude on the Tissue Respiration of Various Organs

Abstract
Oxygen consumption rate of rats of acclimatized to transverse -G. force and after administration of Ginseng extract was measured.
In acclimatization experiments rats were ;given transverse G force of. 10 G-20 minutes once a day for 20 days. After 20-days rats -were exposed to 7 Positive G for 20 minutes and oxygen consumption rates of tissues were measured. In Ginseng extract experiments the fluorescent alkaloid fraction of Ginseng produced ¢¥by the Drug Reseacrh :Institute of Seoul National-University was administered orally I milliliter per day (1:1,000 dilution) for2O days in one group and for 40 days in another groupof rats. Oxygen consumption rates of liver, kidney, skeletal muscle and cerebral corte x- were measured.. The following results were obtained.
1. Body weight remained almost unchanged after the loading of acceleration and administration of Ginseng.
2. In the acceleraton acclimatized¢¥ rats there were no change in QO2 of tissues.
3.The tissue -QOQ of Ginseng administered rats increased markedly Compared to the normal rats.
